NEW Walk-in Fridge

Since reopening as a community owned pub in 2019 the reputation of The Racehorse has steadily grown. It is a warm and welcoming destination with good draught local beers and it has become a popular dining destination, especially for our award winning Sunday lunches. However, the constraints of our small kitchen and in particular the lack of cold storage have made the operation quite stressful at times. The committee considered several options to help alleviate this and eventually settled on the addition of an external walk-in fridge. After further planning (and a few delays) you will now find that if you venture out on to the patio at the rear of the pub the walk-in fridge has been installed along with a new and much better looking wooden pergola/shelter.

In total the project has cost around £11,500 and we are very grateful to have received a substantial grant of £8,725 from the Norfolk Community Foundation Villages Wind Farm Community Fund towards this (with the balance being funded from our own reserves). Thanks must be made to our volunteers for their time and help and also to our contractors for this project: Beeline Refrigeration (Lowestoft), James Miller Electrical (Holton) and Boundary Solutions (Westhall). For the committee the gradual and continual upgrading and investment in the fabric and facilities of the pub are important for a its long-term sustainable future in providing a service to the local community.
